About the Symposium

About the event

Artificial intelligence is creating new possibilities for teaching, learning, assessment and clinical training. At the same time, its integration into healthcare education raises important questions about clinical judgement, educational quality, patient safety, fairness, accountability and professional identity.

The Third International Symposium on AI in Healthcare Education, hosted by the University of Leicester’s Medical School, brings together an international and interdisciplinary community to explore these opportunities and challenges.

Building on the previous two symposia, the third symposium aims to foster meaningful dialogue between research and practice, showcase innovative work, and encourage collaboration among students, academic staff, clinicians, researchers, healthcare organisations and industry partners.

The symposium is hosted by Leicester Medical School at the University of Leicester, in collaboration with MedRIFT.

Welcome to the Third International Symposium on AI in Healthcare Education

Preparing the Next-Gen Clinical Workforce

On behalf of the organising committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the Third International Symposium on AI in Healthcare Education, hosted by the University of Leicester’s Leicester Medical School.

Artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare and creating new opportunities to rethink how healthcare professionals learn, develop clinical competencies and prepare for the challenges of modern practice. Alongside these opportunities come important questions about patient safety, ethics, professional judgement, assessment and the responsible integration of AI into healthcare education.

Building on the success of our previous symposia, this third edition brings together educators, clinicians, researchers, students, healthcare organisations and industry partners to exchange ideas, share emerging evidence and explore innovative approaches to AI-enabled healthcare education.

Our programme features keynote presentations, oral research presentations across six thematic areas, poster presentations and opportunities for interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration. We are delighted to welcome distinguished keynote speakers who will share their perspectives on the future of AI in surgery, hospital care and rehabilitation education.

We are particularly pleased to recognise the contributions of researchers and innovators through our symposium awards, celebrating outstanding oral and poster presentations, as well as inspiring collaborations between students, academic staff and external partners. We believe that meaningful collaboration across disciplines and sectors is essential to ensuring that AI advances healthcare education in responsible, inclusive and impactful ways.

We hope the symposium will provide a stimulating environment in which to challenge assumptions, discover new perspectives, establish valuable partnerships and develop ideas that extend beyond the event itself.

Thank you for joining us and contributing to this important conversation. We look forward to an engaging and inspiring symposium as we work together to shape the future of healthcare education and prepare the next generation of the clinical workforce.

With best wishes,
